CowTown ThrowDown Highlights

Team members cheer on the Mentors during the mentor rounds at the CowTown ThrowDown.

Jamie Bessy, Kelsey Smith and Lindsay Shirk take a turn at driving during the Rookie Round at the CowTown ThrowDown held October 31 and November 1 at Cerner Corporation in North Kansas City. The off season Robotics event was hosted by TeamDriven of Lee's Summit High School. The Panther Robotics Team 1108 is preparing for the upcoming robotics season which will kick off with a new game on January 3, 2009.


Enen the Mentors got into the act at the CowTown ThrowDown. Nick Reuss, Larry Cole and Dean Scherman took a turn at the robot controls at the events practice rounds on Friday. Luckily the mentor rounds were not counted in the overall scoring for the event.

The drive team scores points for the team in the practice rounds of the CowTown ThrowDown on Friday. The robot knocked the red "Track Ball" off the overpass to score points for the team.


Action in the "Pits" members of the Panther Robotics team vist with other team members during "scouting" interviews. Team members work to see what each teams robots are capable of to form alliances for later elimination rounds.

The Panther Robotics pit crew found the robot in pretty good shape after sitting mostly idle for the last six months. The robot, nicknamed "Flingo Farr" hadn't been used in competition since the International Finals last April in Atlanta, Georgia.
