Slyter places first to pace Panthers

The Paola Panther wrestlers finished just out of the top ten teams in the two day Eudora Cardinal Wrestling Tournament last weekend at Eudora.

Paced by Sharky Slyter, who finished first in the 130 pound weight class, the Panthers score 127 team points to finish in eleventh place, just one half point behind Tonganoxie.

Slyter defeated Bryce Hood of Louisburg for the gold medal.

Other Panther wrestlers finishing in the top eight in their weight classes included Ryan McKinney, sixth in the 112 pound class; Tanner Staats, sixth in the 125 pouind class; and Seth Helliker, eight in the 160 pound class.

The Panthers return to action January 7, 2009 at the Spring Hill Invitational Wrestling Tournament.
