Barracudas complete season with Finals win
The Louisburg Barracudas completed their sweep of the South Suburban Swim League 2009 season as they swept away the compeition at the League Finals held Saturday, July 25, 2009 at the Butler Aquatic Center. The event, hosted by the Butler Torpedoes, found some rocky going early, as team warm-up periods had to be cancelled because of inclement weather with thunderstorms in the area, and then had to be suspended for a hour and fifteen minutes because of more lightning and rain, but the afternoon saw bright, sunny, high skies and the Barracudas found smooth sailing, becoming the first team in a long time not named Harrisonville to find it's name engraved in the championship spot on the final trophy.
So dominate were the Barracudas, that the meet, in reality was not even close, as Louisburg easily outdistanced the runner-up Woodson Sharks by nearly 100 points, racking up 563 points on the day. The Barracudas were consistent across the board, as they placed at least one swimmer in the to six positions in 42 of the 50 individual events, with a Louisburg swimmer finishing in the top three places in 34 of those.
The Barracudas were equally dominant in the relays, taking the top spot in nine of 20 relay races, while adding three more runner-up finishes, in all Louisburg scored points in 19 of the 20 relay races.
As was the case all year long, the Barracudas were especially strong in the younger age groups, as the 8 and Under, 9 and 10 year old and the 11-12 year old divisions found Louisburg swimmers at or near the top in nearly every race, giving the Louisburg swimmers the title of "team to beat" in upcoming seasons.
